The Wentzville Water Department hosts a contest for seniors from Timberland and Holt high schools every year. I was lucky enough to be one of the 10 students chosen to participate in the spring of 2008.

Each participant receives a fire hydrant to paint, and every year there is a different theme for the paintings. The theme for 2008 was "college pride."

My hydrant was one of the two winners (the other winner was from Holt). For winning, I was given a $1000 scholarship.

This has to be the most fun project ever!

There were once nine subspecies of tigers: Bengal, Siberian, Indochinese, South Chinese, Sumatran, Malayan, Caspian, Javan and Bali. Of these, the last three are extinct and the rest are endangered.
